Ebook About When Mr. Darcy came to see Elizabeth at the inn at Lambton, what was he there to say? This story explores what would have happened if Jane’s letters had been delayed and Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth had instead spent the day together. The path of the story diverges from there, and when Lydia’s elopement becomes known, Elizabeth must face the idea of losing the man she has come to care for.Book Letter Interrupted (The Elopement Project) Review :
Rating: PG-17: only due to adult themes and discussions of consequences. Angst Level: slight to low. Tissue Alert: possible due to tender moments, letters, and times of anguish. Source: Borrowed KU 7-26-21:SPOILER ALERT: *** This review may contain spoilers ***I love a what-if story where we tweak one thing and then watch to see what happens after that. Jane’s letters to Elizabeth arrived at the Inn in Lambton after Darcy and Elizabeth had reestablished their feelings for each other and were on their way to a courtship. Oh, how Elizabeth grieved while writing to Mr. Darcy as they prepared to leave Lambton. She knew it would be the last time she ever saw him. What a letter. I nearly cried. Let’s just say… our Mr. Darcy was not to be put off by a little scandal. What a guy.“If there’s a single lesson that life teaches us, it’s that wishing doesn’t make it so.” –Lev Grossman, The MagiciansOur Lydia was handed a reality check that could not be ignored. She learned a hard lesson and fairly quickly. Nothing was as she dreamed. Her Wickham was not the man she thought. She quickly discovered that it was never his intention to marry her. This was a harsh reality. Oh, how she suffered. This was hard on the family as she crashed and burned. Her situation would never be the same and she knew it. Life forced a mirror in her face and she, for the first time, saw herself as others and not her own self-aggrandizement. She was a child playing grownup but was unprepared for the consequences that life often handed out. No, Lydia would have to grow up and move out of her childish ways. This was a quick story as Bingley and Darcy made plans to further their relationships with their lady loves. In spite of the troubles within the Bennet family, love still reigned with our guys and their ladies. This was so delightful. I loved the epilogue that featured a series of letters between the characters. What fun. They were so cute. I highly recommend this delightful story. A good story, and I especially liked the letter exchange as the finale. But I loathe Lydia, honestly and completely. And since a great deal of the story deals with her idiotic actions, misguided loyalties, shrieking temper tantrums - why doesn't anybody just haul off and slap her one, I kept wondering? - and then copious tears when reality finally bites her as she so richly deserves, it pretty much was a slog through the book. Elizabeth was so endlessly forgiving, I was beginning to think the author had mistakenly switched her name for Jane's milkiness. If it hadn't been for the exchange of letters that made for a creative way to give us the epilogue, I would have rated this a 2-star. The ending bumped it up to the middling level. YMMV.
